Wellua has two products in active formulation development: a Cleanser and an Oil-Serum. Both are built for sensitive, redness-prone skin.

What we leave out

We do not use fragrances, drying alcohols, or sulfates. Ever.

Our founder, whose face flares up easily too, knows that there is no magic pill for forever calm skin. Instead Wellua offers highly disciplined formulations to support happier skin.

The idea for Wellua began in a parking lot. After a long day out with her young son, Mareike tried to wipe the stubborn, waterproof sunscreen off their faces. But sunscreen sticks like glue, and her attempts to remove it left her skin red and blotchy. Right then, she decided to formulate a new cleanser that worked on skin like hers.

That parking lot moment has evolved into Wellua’s first two products, a cleanser and serum duo currently in active development.

Mareike's path to founding Wellua is unconventional.

In Germany, she studied veterinary technology and managed clinical diagnostics, pharmaceutical compounding, and order fulfillment for a clinic specializing in racing pigeons.

After relocating to California and graduating magna cum laude in Political Science from San José State University, Mareike transitioned into the Silicon Valley tech sector. She joined goCloudOffice, an IT and cybersecurity firm founded by her husband, where she led brand, marketing, finance, and HR.

When she became a mother, raising her son became her primary focus and greatest joy. Still, she continued to lend her expertise to goCloudOffice in the hours she had left in her day. That balance taught her resourcefulness, efficiency, and how to trust her instincts.

Today, she leads Wellua as a solo founder supported by an AI-augmented team. Mareike is hands-on in the lab, formulating with discipline and precision to support sensitive, redness-prone skin. For every skin tone, gender, and decade.
